Rooms they'll grow up in

I never planned on becoming a designer. Honestly, I never really had "a plan," and for a long time I was embarrassed about that.

Then I became a mom.

Wren is my daughter. Audrey Wren, my firstborn. The baby who showed up and quietly rearranged everything. People warn you that motherhood puts your dreams on the shelf. Nobody warned me it would hand me one.

Here's how it happened. We were in a little townhouse in Miami, one income, and I wanted to give her more than we could reach at the time. So we made a wild move. Literally. We packed up, moved out of our own home, and I turned it into a place other families could stay. Every paint color, every corner, every detail was mine. By the time I finished, I couldn't stop thinking about the next room I wanted to design. That's when I knew.

I'm a mom of three now. I don't have a design degree. I have three kids' rooms that get absolutely lived in, and I've learned more from making those spaces work than any classroom could've taught me. I design in English and in Spanish, because that's how our home runs, and I know a lot of yours do too.

My kids didn't put my life on hold. They pressed play.
